The homeless students at Teneroc High School will soon be returning to school.

The HEARTH Project is in need of donations of “hygiene bags” to provide these students with necessary per- sonal toiletries. The Schalamar Craft Group has supported the HEARTH Project for many years, and we have decided to help with this urgent need again this year. Thus, on Thursday, August 1, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM we are holding a Drive Up and Drop Off” event at the Clubhouse Lobby entrance. You will drive up the ramp to the front door, and members of the Craft Group will meet you at your vehicle or golf cart to col- lect your donations. Here’s a list of the toiletries that we will be collecting:

Bath soap , Toothpaste , Deodorant, Washcloths, Toothbrushes, Brush/comb, 2-in-1 Shampoo/conditioner
Please donate only the items on the list, as specified by HEARTH. All items must be new/unopened, full-size containers (no travel-size) that will fit in a gallon-size zip-lock bag.

One of each item will be packed in a gallon bag and delivered to HEARTH for distribution to students before the start of school. (You can bring your donations in gallon zip lock bags if you wish.) So start compiling these items now to drop off on August 1st. If you are unable to, or don’t wish to donate the toiletries but still want to participate, we are accepting monetary donations (cash or checks). Please make checks payable to “Schalamar Creek Craft Group”. We will use the $ to purchase toiletries needed to fill a shortage in any of the bags. Then we will write one check for the remaining $ and present it HEARTH when we deliver the hygiene bags. Last year we delivered 199 Hygiene Bags and $499.25 in checks to the HEARTH Project. We look forward to another successful hygiene collection and are confident that the generosity of our Schalamar residents will once again come through to help those students in need.
