Our hurricane season in Florida typically lasts from June 1 through the end of November, but a majority of these storms start forming nearer the end of the season, with September producing the most hurricanes—most of which start in the Caribbean Sea or the Gulf of Mexico.

As a point of information, the Schalamar Creek Clubhouse IS NOT a shelter. The clubhouse will be closed during any hurricane event. For your safety, we have enclosed a list of Polk County Public Shelters which lists those shelters that are primary shelters, those that are pet-friendly and those that are equipped for special needs.
